Between the Covers Book Club is an inclusive sisterhood. We believe in passionately pursuing our best selves through inspirational books, elevating and empowering our members, and loving strangers unconditionally. We strive to grow a community where each woman feels a sense of self-worth. And, we are dedicated to supporting and showing enthusiasm for the success of other women as much as we do our own.
Encourage – We gather weekly to encourage and support our local groups through this rollercoaster called LIFE. This sisterhood has created trust, accountability and a space to be vulnerable and honest.
Empower – Through the process of encouragement and vulnerability you start to learn and display bold characteristics. Empowerment, strength and courage is what we hope is displayed inside and outside of our community.
Elevate – We lift our actions and discussions by reading inspirational books that challenge our current way of thinking. When you schedule time out of your busy week to sit and discuss over difficult topics with an open heart two thing happens: Personal Growth & Community Synergy.
Empathize – It’s been the heart of our community. Leaning in when people are hurting. Hugging someone a little bit longer who needs it. Listening instead of constantly giving advice. Giving back to people in need. We strive to understand and share the feelings of others. The more we empathize the stronger and bigger this community grows.

First, I wasn’t being fulfilled in my friendships. Instead of building each other up we “bonded” by tearing others down. Gossip, drinking and drama were the main social tools we used, and we used them too frequently. The environment was toxic and detrimental.
Second, my brother contemplated suicide in September 2018. I flew to Montana to be with him as soon as I found out. This trip became an awakening of sorts. I began to understand that mental illness, anxiety, loneliness, and depression are REAL problems that REAL people deal with every day. Before this awakening I thought most of these types of issues were excuses. If someone felt depressed they should exercise, read a book, meditate, eat healthy, go to church, take action and solve the problem. Tah Dah, do those things and you’ll be happy!
After spending some time with my brother I learned it goes WAY deeper than I had ever imagined. On the plane ride back home, I reached out to some pretty significant people in my life for advice and every single one of them said something along the lines of “I know someone that has a mental illness” or “I struggle with depression myself” etc. I was in complete shock that so many of my friends and family were dealing with these types of issues. I had been in total denial, happy within the bubble I lived. I spent several days upset with God and frustrated that I was not able to do more for my brother or anyone else.
After weeks of my self initiated pity party, I decided it was time to act. I sat down and created a list of items that make ME happy. I love food, I love to read, I love God, I love to give back to others, I love to have me time and I love to workout. Without those things, I might be lost as well. So while meditating on my list an idea popped into my head about starting a different type of Book Club where members are surrounded by love, vulnerability, and self-betterment.
I anxiously started posting about this “book club” on my personal Instagram and it officially began in November 2018 with 6 members. In a very short amount of time, we have grown to 20+ groups meeting all across the nation with over 500+ women actively reading, participating and sharing their lives! I guess I wasn’t the only woman that wanted a more honest, loving, authentic and supportive community. These women are something else – There are no words to describe the impact this group has had on my heart and my life.
It has been a whirlwind of self-growth and one of the most rewarding experiences. I am honored and thankful to participate and facilitate our mission of preparing women to go out in the world and become a light for others.
Get out of your comfort zone and meet us in the arena – Join all of us at Between the Covers Book Club!
